Timeline
Gerwig: A Groundbreaking Artist
Greta Gerwig is a groundbreaking director for bringing feminism to the big screen and for a wider audience. Her movies are not only mainstream, but critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated, all while reaching a wide audience. The three films of hers that we chose—Lady Bird, Little Women, and Barbie—have three different age ratings, being R, PG, and PG-13 respectively. This showcases her wide range of directorial styles and her ability to bring feminism to different audiences. With Barbie, she also became the highest-grossing solo female director of all time, shattering a "glass ceiling" and inspiring the next generation of female directors.
Snubbed at the Oscars
"When it comes to illustrious awards, no awards can compete with the Oscars. Known for there exclusive nature, the Oscars are held at a high regard. So when Barbie became the most successful film of the year, many were surprised to see the underwhelming amount of representation for the Barbie. Many even pointed out the contradictory nature of Ryan Gosling being nominated for Ken, but not Margot Robbie for Barbie. In the end, Barbie only took home one Oscar for best Original song, upsetting movie fans around the world. To get a little bit opinionated here, I do not believe Greta Gerwig deserved the Oscar, even though a nomination would have been nice, Christopher Nolan was the clear pick for the best Director category for his work on the film Oppenheimer. But don't lose hope in the year to come. Greta Gerwig is set to direct a new Narnia Reboot franchise, which may win some Oscars."

Snubbed at the Golden Globes
"When it comes to illustrious awards, no award can compete with the Oscars, besides the Golden Globes that is, which is the second biggest award for TV and Movies. She was also snubbed at this award show too, with a similar outcome as the Oscars. Alas, maybe one day Greta Gerwig will receive the recognition she deserves for her hard work and dedication, as she is truly groundbreaking."
